Murdoch and Media as Empire and Circus

Just watching the Murdoch media inquiry live on CNN and writing the blog post included below when someone shoved a shaving cream pie on Murdoch's face. LOL

-----------------------------------------------------------

Rupert Murdoch is the P. T. Barnum of the News International/News Corp media circus plus Mafioso boss. In case you don't know who Barnum is, he's the Barnum of the Ringling Bros/Barnum Bailey Circus and the guy who said, "There's a sucker born every minute"

Murdoch's formula of tabloid spectacle, fake news and propaganda backed by bribes, intimidation and criminal activity proves that that is still true, and here in America Roger Ailes, the head of News Corp, Murdoch's operation in the US, proves it with Murdoch's FOX NEWS. For too long these crooks have had the power to run politicians, law enforcement and play King Maker.

It is time to the flush this scum out of the system. They replaced truth and integrity with lurid spectacle and propaganda. Sadly, yesterday whistleblower Sean Hoare, the man who set the ball rolling on Murdoch Co., was found dead (murdered?) at his home. How many more victims have to fall before the public demands an end to this empire of thugs and clown henchmen?

Shades of W. R. Hearst, wot.

The novel / movie will have to comment on the ease of spreading misinformation even in a world where no one has anything like a monopoly on information. I suspect interesting comments can be made on human psychology and the herd instinct.

WRH...absolutely.

Can't wait for the novel/movie. It's sure to be a real potboiler. As for psychology and the herd instinct? One word: chilling.

Human nature never changes. Sometimes I think the best we can do is oust the ones who have acquired so much power and greed that they have allowed themselves to go to extremes. Slowly, we'll forget, and then, one day, the circus will come to town! Yay!

And don't we all love a circus?!

As a long time Rupe watcher, I watched him fill his carpet bag and go to an unsuspecting America. How long, I thought, before he's running the joint? It took a decade and a half possibly, and America was merely a rung on the ladder to seize control of China, thwarted at the last minute.
Here in Oz we had Keating the opera. I think Uncle Rupert deserves no less. How good are you at writing musical scores Asha? I'm serious I think.

Hi Bob. Musical scores? As in lyrics or music? Anyway, a dirge would suit the Murdoch farce, don't you think? Interspersed with calliope music, slave ship groans and barely audible mumblings from the confessional. Oh, and the squawking of clown's unicycle horns.
