Oh my! That looks so yummy ... and I Googled up the recipe, wow. I think I may have had this ages ago at an office party and twas delish. I tried to find a vegan version (for Sharon), but those are way complex. What is ghee? Is that milk? If so, not vegan.
Paula, a thousand pardons. I should have thought to tell you about burfi, one of India's many glorious sweets. Unfortunately, most are not vegan but they are vegetarian.
Ghee is clarified butter and is generally available at any Indian grocery store or you can make it. Just put a ton of butter in a good pot. Place pot on very low heat. As butter melts, skim the "impurities" off the top until you are left with nothing but pure, clear, golden ghee.
