Red Dragon and Alien Rock protest this disturbance mightily. |
Yikes! This is it. Today I dismantle my office. Better that I do it than the job be done in the style of one of those postmortem clean outs where, in one afternoon, your kids come in and dump your lifetime of treasures into 20 or 51 big black lawn bags and take everything to the landfill. But there is so much stuff...special rocks, candles, photos, bags, note pads, little boxes, bottles, sort later piles, brief cases oh, and the entire cast of the Invisible Theatre has to move as does the stage itself along with the printers, chairs, tables, book shelves, file cabinets, cables and oh god...
After I've got the room emptied out, M. Lee will come in and tear out the filthy, coffee stained rug and put in the new ...TA DA.... PAPER FLOOR!!!! Can't wait. This is the last phase. Woo-hoo. And then in 10 weeks, just after we get kind of settled into the new studio, formerly known as the living room, we leave for the rest of the year. Crazy.

I hate packing and moving but i LOVE unpacking.
Taking The Invisible Theatre out on the road should be interesting though......maybe changing up the surroundings will inspire their creativity ;)
Good luck with the move.
I mentioned this paper floor thing to a group of people Saturday, and the question came up about the wait between coats of polyurethane. How many hours do you have to wait? And has M. Lee resisted, so far, the temptation to imbed coins into the coating so as to afford comic relief later as people bend over to pick them up?
Kimberlee: Yes. Packing's a bitch but it was a much needed shake up and, you guessed it, the theatre troupe is very excited about the whole thing. :)
Roy: He's using water based poly, drying time 2 - 24 hrs between coats. After 24 hrs you have to sand the floor before applying another coat. And, in case you're wondering, the smell is not too bad. It dissipates in a matter of hours.
But sorry. There are no trick coins embedded in the floor for fun but there are a few long white hairs curled into the poly here and there and FAR FEWER than M. Lee would have you believe. I say they are charming in a "Kilroy was here" kind of way but he has an entirely different point of view. Oh well. C'est la vie.
Imbedding dirty money into the floor is hilariously juvenile and I'm only sorry I didn't think of it first. It's a "paper" floor, so maybe I should use currency? Hell, I could've withdrawn my meager life savings and done the whole floor in dollars! Or at least a small room...
Dry here, so two hours between coats is about right, and I do ten coats because it's two less than the crazy lady who has the tutorial did, and I'm not crazy.
It'll be like Christmas when you unpack. Where are you going for the rest of the year? Portland? Hmmmmmm?
Hey Judy. It's a crazy itinerary this year. We leave in April and will be gone till the beginning of next year. But, we'll be in Portland the first two weeks of June. Let's do it all.
