Up next, modern art

Today we're headed to the modern art museum. I am ready for a break from the medieval world. Yes, the art itself, for it's own sake, is interesting. Some of it's even good. And it's interesting to watch how techniques and point of view evolved over the centuries but, holy god! They do love their martyrs. It gets oppressive, all the images of beatific people sitting in pots of boiling oil or water, being flayed, beheaded, hung or stabbed to death by ragged dudes with long swords. Funny. I haven't seen much on the subject of the Christians racing through the world in search of their bullshit "holy grail" ie another power grab murderfest, or whatever other discrimination of the "other" they can get away with, courtesy of church and state. Same old same old, ISIS to Kim Davis. Even if the art at the Amsterdam modern art museum is as ridiculous as the crap we saw in Ghent at SMAK I don't care. Bring on the black paintings and metal shavings hanging from the wall. I'm ready for a laugh!

Odd. I mean most places understand that for every demon bursting into flames in a pit of everlasting fire there must be at least one baby flying around. Oh yeah, they lo-ooooove babies.

Oh, don't worry. There are always babies flying around and totally passive, sad looking grown-ups with wings looking down from the clouds. ARG! I have a bad case of MO (medieval overload). It's a frightful condition. And I haven't even mentioned the torture chamber we visited at the castle in Ghent! The modern "art" hasn't given me much hope but it is at least a distraction. What is that Latin phrase? (rattlerattlegooglegoogle) Ah yes... here it is.... reductio ad absurdum. At least Amsterdam's modern "art" museum turned out to be not as bad as S.M.A.k in Ghent. That's something anyway.

Whatever this latest modification to your template--nice. It looks "cleaner" somehow. Funny how almost immediately I cannot remember the specifics of the last template. The column of text is wider?

Thanks, Roy. I appreciate the feedback. The column of text is not wider. I lightened the color of the links in the two right hand columns. Perhaps that makes the text column on the left appear larger?

Somehow, yes. Anyway, looks more open, cleaner.

Glad to hear it. I had been dissatisfied with how things were looking around here for awhile but only yesterday got around to doing anything about it so thanks again for the feedback. :-)
